Tema: Mr James Enu, Member of Parliament for Tema West, in collaboration with the Tema West Municipal Assembly (TWMA) and the Ghana Education Service (GES), has donated mathematical sets to the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates in preparation for this year's examination. The initiative also included the distribution of free sanitary pads to female students in various basic and senior high schools within the municipality to promote girl child education.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Enu stated that the donation aimed to equip the candidates for their examinations and encourage them to excel in the BECE. With sponsorship from him, a mock examination was conducted for all schools in the municipality under strict observation by him and GES officials. He emphasized the importance of the BECE as a foundation for the students' future, urging them to perform well.
The MP expressed confidence that providing the necessary support and materials would help build the candidates' confidence and propel them to the next stage of their academic and career lives. He highlighted the importance of motivation and encouragement in the students' final preparations.
Mr Enu reiterated his optimism for good results in the constituency, thanks to the support given to the candidates. He also mentioned the National Democratic Congress' initiative, led by President John Dramani Mahama, to distribute sanitary pads to female students, easing financial burdens on parents and promoting female education.
The MP addressed the issue of rising indiscipline among students, calling for a national plan to tackle the problem. He stressed the importance of engaging youth in skill training or work to prevent idleness and indiscipline.
Mr Ludwig Teye Totimeh, the Tema West Municipal Chief Executive, who accompanied the team, emphasized the assembly's interest in the students' growth and preparation for the exams. He wished the candidates success, assuring them of the assembly's support in materials and spirit to achieve excellent results.
