Nyakrom Development Association Adopts Strategic Plan to Transform Lives

Nyakrom: The Agona Nyakrom Development Association (NDA) has adopted a comprehensive strategic plan to enable members both at home and in the Diaspora to mobilize adequate funds to transform the town.

According to Ghana News Agency, the Association, which was formed during the COVID-19 period in 2020, has contributed significantly to the growth of the town in the areas of education, healthcare delivery, and infrastructure improvements. Nana John Boadu, the outgoing Chairman of the Association, highlighted these achievements during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Nyakrom, located in the Agona West Municipality.

Nana Boadu noted that during the pandemic, the Association supported the town by procuring and distributing Personal Protective Equipment, Veronica buckets, and other essential items to various public facilities to help curb the spread of the virus. Additionally, members have been contributing to support the education of the town's youth, allowing them opportunities for higher education both locally and internationally.

The outgoing Chairman commended key members such as Nana Adu Peseko VII, Gyantuahene of Nyakrom, Nana Osei Bonsu III, Tufuhene of Nyakrom, and Mr. Richard Andam, Chairman of the Diasporas, for their significant contributions. He also mentioned the ongoing developmental projects at the Nyakrom health center, including the construction of new wards, aimed at enhancing healthcare services.

Omanhene of the Nyakrom Traditional Area, Okofo Katakyi Nyakoh Eku X, praised the Association members for their dedication to the socio-economic advancement of Nyakrom. He noted that the Association's efforts have encouraged many who have not visited the town in years to return and contribute to its development. The Association has also facilitated scholarships for the youth through partnerships with NGOs.

Okofo Katakyi Nyakoh Eku mentioned interest from other Paramount Chiefs in the Central Region to replicate the Association's model in their areas. He encouraged the MCE of Agona West, a native of Nyakrom, to use his position to further improve the local living standards, assuring him of the Chiefs' support.

Mr. Eric Gyamfi Odoom, MCE for Agona West, affirmed the Association's role in development and promised equitable distribution of development projects across the Municipality. He addressed concerns over deteriorating roads and illicit drug use, assuring residents of ongoing efforts to address these issues.

Mr. George Nkrumah, the newly elected Chairman of the Association, committed to continuing the efforts of his predecessors and emphasized collaboration with local chiefs to improve healthcare facilities. He also announced plans for an aggressive membership drive to engage more citizens in the development initiatives for Agona Nyakrom.
