Seychelles and Federated States of Micronesia Formally Establish Diplomatic Ties

New york: The Republic of Seychelles and the Federated States of Micronesia have formally established diplomatic relations with an aim to promote bilateral cooperation and strengthen their friendship.

According to African Press Organization, the establishment of these diplomatic relations is based on the principles outlined in the Charter of the United Nations and mutual respect for fundamental norms of international law. Both Seychelles and the Federated States of Micronesia are members of the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS). They share several commonalities and face similar challenges, particularly concerning economic vulnerabilities and the impacts of climate change.

The Joint Communiqu© was signed in New York by the Permanent Representative of Seychelles to the United Nations, Ambassador Vivianne Fock Tave, and the Permanent Representative of the Federated States of Micronesia to the United Nations, Ambassador Jeem Lippwe.
