Accra: Mrs Gifty Nyarko, the Head of Physical Planning Department of the Sunyani West Municipal Assembly has been honoured as the 'most outstanding personality in urban and regional planning' in the country. She received this recognition at the 2025 edition of the 'Ghana Outstanding Community Leadership' Awards organized by the Business Executive Group.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Sunyani West Municipal Assembly was also recognized for its efforts in regulatory compliance, participatory development, and innovative urban planning. In an interview with the agency at Odomase, the Municipal capital, Mrs Nyarko expressed that her recognition was for her leadership and contributions to spatial planning in Ghana.
Mrs Nyarko emphasized that the goal of the Assembly is to build spaces where people can live with dignity, beyond just granting building permits and planning. With over a decade of professional planning experience, she has led projects in land governance, spatial planning, and sustainable development at both Regional and Municipal levels.
She also serves as the National Interim President of the Local Government Service Association of Physical Planners (LoGSAPP).
