Moment of Triumph, President Herminie Crowns Champions at 46th National School Athletics Championship

Seychelles: A day marked by at least eight new record-breaking performances, intense competition, and sporting excellence came to a fitting conclusion yesterday, at Stad Linite as President Dr Patrick Herminie presented the Presidents Cup to the Seychelles Police Academy (SPA), one of the overall winners of the 46th National School Athletics Championship. President Herminie joined students, teachers, parents and supporters in witnessing the culmination of one of the country's most anticipated school sporting events. According to African Press Organization, the event was attended by prominent figures including Vice-President Sebastien Pillay, his wife Mrs Lina Pillay, and several ministers such as Wallace Cosgrow, David Pierre, Kalsey Belle, James Camille, Eveline Rose, Amanda Bernstein, Marvin Fanny, Veronique Laporte, and Idith Alexander, alongside members of the National Assembly and other high-ranking government officials. The championship saw participation from hundreds of young athletes from primary, se condary, and post-secondary institutions across Seychelles, competing in a variety of track and field events. Recognition was given to several schools for their outstanding performances. La Digue School was named Best Small School, Perseverance Primary School was recognized as Best Primary School, and Praslin Secondary School was awarded Best Secondary School. Athletes competed in disciplines such as sprints, middle-distance races, relays, long jump, high jump, and shot put. The event also acknowledged schools and individuals for their exceptional sportsmanship. Perseverance Primary School received the Fair Play Award in the primary category, Praslin Secondary School in the secondary category, Seychelles Police Academy (SPA) at the post-secondary level, and Anse aux Pins was recognized with the Spectator Fair Play Award. In the Under-8 Girls division, Perseverance Primary School took the title, while the Under-8 Boys title was shared by Anse Etoile Primary School and Perseverance Primary School. La Digue S chool excelled in the Under-10 category, winning both the girls and boys divisions. Glacis Primary School triumphed in the Under-12 Girls category, and Perseverance Primary School led the Under-12 Boys division. Baie Ste Anne Primary School and Perseverance Primary School secured titles in the Under-14 Primary categories. Praslin Secondary School dominated the Under-14 and Under-16 categories, winning both girls and boys divisions. At the post-secondary level, the Seychelles Business Studies Academy (SBSA) won the Open Girls category, while the Seychelles Institute of Technology (SIT) claimed the Open Boys title. Individual honors went to Samira Albert of La Digue School as the Most Valuable Athlete (MVA) for Primary Girls, Tyron Arnephy of Perseverance Primary School for Primary Boys, Kadijah of Anse Royale Secondary School for Secondary Girls, and Leandro Labiche of Praslin Secondary School for Secondary Boys.
