Calabar: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River has announced the commencement of a membership verification exercise in the state as part of efforts to reposition the party. Mr. Mike Ojisi, the Publicity Secretary, made this announcement while addressing the press following a State Working Committee meeting in Calabar.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the verification exercise aims to identify true members of the party across the 18 local government areas in Cross River. The initiative is designed to strengthen and unite the party in preparation for the 2027 elections. The exercise will be conducted by the local government chairmen of the party, with the goal of building a formidable political organization.
Ojisi highlighted that recent defections from the PDP were driven by greed and personal interests, rather than party ideology. He praised party members who remained committed to the party's vision and encouraged them to continue their support. "We urge our members to remain steadfast and loyal, our party remains Nigeria's most viable option for a brighter future," Ojisi stated.
