Seychelles Cabinet Approves Key Amendments and Event Hosting

Seychelles: President Dr Patrick Herminie chaired a scheduled meeting of the Cabinet on Wednesday, 2nd September, where several legal and policy memoranda received approval. According to African Press Organization, the Cabinet approved amendments to the Value Added Tax (Refunds for Persons Engaged in Farming, Fishing, and Supporting Activities) Regulations, 2018. These changes will extend VAT exemption to construction services directly and exclusively related to the assembly and installation of VAT-exempt goods imported in disassembled form. The exemption will only apply when such services are necessary to render the goods operational and are provided to individuals already entitled to the import VAT exemption. Additionally, the Cabinet gave the green light for Seychelles to host the 2nd International Council of Museums (ICOM) Students and Young Professionals Forum from 21 to 23 October 2026. The event is recognized as a platform to enhance youth capacity, protect cultural heritage, and promote climate res ilience through international collaboration.
