A group of women entrepreneurs met in a networking session on Saturday to share their business know-how and to learn from one another.
The event, held at the Chatterbox, Eden Plaza, was organised by the Ministry of Investment, Entrepreneurship and Industry in collaboration with ‘Fasinasyon’ (a platform to empower and support women) as part of activities to celebrate International Women’s Day on Tuesday March 8, 2022.
The aim of the networking session, under the theme ‘Celebrating our wins’, was to build a community of friendship and apprenticeship among the women and to learn on their business journey. It was also to create a potential mentor and mentee partnerships across different business areas.
The participation was from all walks of the business community that brought together a group of well-established business women and other women who are thinking of venturing into business.
Also present were the Minister for Youth, Sports and Family, Marie Céline Zialor; the chief executive of Enterprise Seychelles Agency (Esa) Angelic Appoo; and the chief executive of Seychelles Investment Bureau (SIB), Anne Rosette.
In welcoming the women entrepreneurs, Marsha Parcou, an initiator of the workshop and owner of Chatterbox, said that they had wanted the business ladies to share their journey in support of other business ladies who might be facing difficulties running their firms and to others who might want to join the world of business.
She noted that the shared stories on how to manage family life and business, among others, might help another to overcome obstacles and to further persevere with the business dream they had.
With words of encouragement from Minister Devika Vidot (not present) read by Minister Zialor, the minister said she prayed that exchanges will inspire the business women to succeed in their business and that they continue to help one another, especially those in difficulties, through the established relationship, so that the movement of women in business gets bigger and become more solid.
Before the speed dating networking session, business women Veronique Laporte (owner of Emma’s Consultancy), Lorriane Dalpez (owner Mr & Mrs – specialising in wedding and events) and Selma Belle (owner of Sunshine and Rainbow – specialising in handmade and unique treasures), gave their testimonies in regards to the setting up of their businesses, the successes, challenges and weaknesses, what they do outside business and on whether they will change from businesswomen to something else.
At the end of the speed date networking session, Esa’s CEO, Angelic Appoo, on behalf of the ministry, thanked the women for their time given to engage and to share their experiences with one another.
She also encouraged them to carry on with their business and to continue to support one another and to help those in difficulties so that they also can fulfill their dreams.
For their participation, the women were presented with a token of appreciation from the ministry, presented by Ms Appoo.
