As has been customary for the past few years, Victoria is once again aglitter with sparkling Christmas lights and other decorations, flaring up the Christmas mood in town for this festive season.

The colourful decorations has heightened the Christmas mood in the country where many families are taking this opportunity to bring their children down for souvenir photos in the different parts of the colourful and glittering Victoria, mainly concentrated along Independence Avenue, Constitution Avenue, Peace Park, Water Front garden opposite the Independence House and around the Le Chantier roundabout, among a few other places.

Some businesses and shops have also brightened up their places to add flare to the Christmas mood.

The official lighting of the Christmas lights in Victoria took place on the evening of December 3, 2022 and it was the Mayor of Victoria, David Andre, in the company of two children, who had the honour to switch the button to light up Victoria.

The office of the Mayor is responsible for putting up the Christmas decorations in Victoria with a budget obtained from government for importation and installation, including for entertainment. It also receives donations from sponsors to help with the decoration of the capital.

Apart from using decorations from last year that are still in good condition, the office has also for this year imported some new decorations which have been installed for this festive season.
