UN Youth Seychelles (UNYS), in a virtual ceremony held on Saturday afternoon, officially launched the Silver Lining Project 2021, with the aim of promoting the holistic development of the youths of Seychelles.

The event regrouped 23 participants inclusive of both local and international supporters of the project, as well as youths who registered to know more about the project.

The President of UN Youth Seychelles (UNYS), Raymus Laurence, delivered his opening remarks highlighting his contentment in seeing the same youth UNYS has touched and worked with being present and helping in giving back to the society.

External advisor for UNYS, Daniel Gordon, provided a historical overview of the project while Annarose Clarisse and project coordinator explained the essence and objective of the project.

The Silver Lining project is focused on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the United Nations’ (UN) 2030 Agenda, specifically Goal 3, good health and wellbeing and Goal 4, pertaining to quality education.

In promoting youth holistic development, the focal point is to create a wellness action plan, comprising in-depth learning on life dimensions and group coaching, to help the youths of today strike a balance amid the challenges youths of today face.

Managing director of the Mauritius Commercial Bank (MCB) Seychelles, Bernard Jackson, highlighted the reasons why MCB chose to be an early enabler for the project and the importance of contributing towards such initiatives.

Numerous other speakers shared their insights and experiences, namely, International Peace Youth Group (IPYG) coordinator Cloe Baartman, life coach and motivational speaker from South Africa Renee Lighton and financial services professional author and main facilitator for the project Wellington Manjengwa.

The second half of the event engaged participants directly in the 8 Life Dimensions, with insights from two-time Ted Talk Speaker Deepak Ramola, who unravelled the life dimensions through Life Lessons and shared wisdom.

Vice-president and treasurer of the UNYS, Amy Jean, concluded the event by thanking all the participants, supporters and enablers of the project and expressed the appreciation of the UNYS board towards the members who contributed wholeheartedly towards the project.

Special mention went to the National Grants Committee, the main funder, Eden Bleu Hotel as another supporter for the Silver Lining Project 2021 and the MCB Seychelles for supporting the project from its inception since 2019.

As part of the project, UNYS is organising a formations workshop spanning over two days, whereby participants will undergo a series of in-depth sessions, in line with the projects main focus points.
