This week’s National Assembly sittings suspended

The National Assembly is suspending sittings for this week because some members have been in contact with a person who has, since the meeting, tested positive on the Covid-19 antigen rapid test.

In line with public health guidelines and the Assembly’s own Covid-19 prevention protocol, members who had such contacts are required not to attend the Assembly for seven days for their status to be clarified. Since this involves a number of members, it has been decided that suspension is the best option. The Public Health Authority will advise if any testing will be required.

Although the risk that any of the members have been infected is low and all those concerned have been vaccinated, the suspension is an advisable precaution because Assembly work requires indoor person to person contact among members.
