On November 29, 2022, the Federation of Artisan Fishermen of the Indian Ocean (FPAOI) held its ordinary general meeting at the hotel Le Louvre Tananarive, Madagascar.
Thirty-four (34) members were present and there was the election of a new executive committee – Keith André (Seychelles), Patrick Fortuno (Mauritius), Gerard Zite (Réunion), Ismail Mahamoudou (Comoros) and Charles Razafimandimby (Madagascar). The COMEX was constituted as follows: President Keith André; 1st Vice-President Ismail Mahamoudou; 2nd Vice-President Charles Razafimandimby; Secretary General Patrick Fortuno and Treasurer Gerard Zite
In his speech, Keith André, president of the FPAOI, informed that the financial agreement with the World Bank within the framework of the SWIOFISH 2 project will end in September 2023 and other donors must be sought.
The highlight of the meeting was the approved memberships – APPECOR – Réunion, Cooperative des Pêcheurs à casiers – Comoros, FIMPAT – Madagascar and FEFIMPANO – Madagascar.
The Seychelles delegation that took part in this meeting was made up of Rodney Nicole from Bel Ombre Fishermen’s Association, Nancy Ojingode from the SFBOA, Neddy Labrosse from Roche Caïman Fishermen’s Association, Ray Payet from La Digue Fishermen’s Association, Darrel Green from Praslin Fishermen’s Association and Keith André .
