In commemoration of the Africa Day, celebrated this week, 25th May, as a new tradition this year, the Office of the President will officially display the African Union flag at the State House, at all times alongside the National flag.

Seychelles has been a member of the African Union since 1976.

The AU was established in 2002, it was formed as a successor to the Organization of the African Unity (OAU) which was first founded on 25th May 1963.
