SPTC board re-appointed

Minister Antony Derjacques, in his capacity as the Minister for Transport, has re-appointed the board of the Seychelles Public Transport Corporation (SPTC), in accordance with Section 5 Cap 221 of the Seychelles Public Transport Corporation Decree No.30 of 1977.

The board is led by its chairman Andy Moncherry, who was appointed on December 16, 2020 for a period of three years, and Patrick Vel, chief executive of SPTC, also remains as the ex-officio member of the board.

The other members, who are normally appointed for a period of one year, are Allan Kilindo, Cecily Derjacques, Bernard Domingue and Siana Bistoquet.

Minister Derjacques expressed his satisfaction with the board’s performance over the past year.

“In line with the vision of SPTC and with the support of the ministry, we are positive that we will be able to achieve the goal to operate a modern and sustainable public transport system for our country. The board has showed commitment to the strategy and is determined to achieve the goals set. We will ensure the national support for the continuous operation of a safe, reliable and effective public transport service,” Minister Derjacques stated.

Chairman Moncherry, on behalf of the board, expressed his gratitude for the support that the board has received.

“The board is satisfied with the level of support at the government level to achieve its goals and to turn SPTC into a sustainable public transport system. We are satisfied with the support we receive from the ministry and we are positive that the year 2022 will be full of achievements for SPTC,” he said.

The presentation of the re-appointed board was held at the secretariat of the Ministry of Transport at Botanical House in the presence of other senior officials of the secretariat of the minister.

The minister wished the board success for the year 2022 in all its responsibilities and undertakings.
