On Wednesday afternoon, the Seychelles youth rugby team received training shirts that were presented to them by Spar Eden Island.
Jade Suleman, part of the leadership team at Spar Eden Island, said: “Spar Eden Island fully supports the growth of youth rugby in Seychelles by playing a part in providing an opportunity for the youth with a productive hobby and to help sports flourish. We look forward to supporting the team’s development over the coming years.”
The youth team made up of students from seven local schools have been demonstrating their skills throughout 2022 in local competitions organised by the Seychelles Rugby Union and now they look like a professional outfit in their new kit, made by high end sports clothing manufacturer Optimum Sports. Seychelles Rugby Union chairman Luke Fonseka commented: “On behalf of the Seychelles Rugby Union we would like to express our sincere gratitude to Spar Eden Island for their generous support. We are extremely proud of all of our young rugby players, who demonstrate the core values of rugby (teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship) on a daily basis, not only on the field but also in the classroom and at home. It is important for us to develop good rugby players, however we believe that it is more important to develop good people.”
Seychelles Youth Rugby’s training for players aged 13-18 years old takes place from 3pm to 4.45pm every Wednesday at the Mont Fleuri playing field. Males and females are encouraged to join. For more information please email seychellesrugby@gmail.co
