Some 96.4 Percent of Fertilizer Purchased by Gov’t Arrives at Djibouti Port

The total amount of fertilizer that has arrived at Djibouti port for the current farming season has reached 96.4 percent of the government’s target, according to Ethiopian Agricultural Businesses Corporation.

The government has planned to import nearly 14 million quintals of fertilizer for this crop season.

A shipment of 524,670 quintals of urea fertilizer has arrived at Djibouti port on Monday, the corporation said.

Out of the total the soil fertilizer Ethiopia purchased, nearly 12 million quintals have so far been transported to the country.

The remaining 500,000 quintals of urea fertilizer is expected to arrive at Djibouti port soon.

Ethiopian Agricultural Businesses Corporation is a government-owned enterprise established with the mandate to ensure that farmers have access to the inputs they need to boost agricultural production.
