Seychelles-UAE relations get added boost with approval of key projects

Seychelles and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have announced that key priority projects in the domain of housing, sports and health have been approved as part of the two nations’ efforts to further consolidate their diplomatic ties and reinforce their bilateral relations.

The following approved projects include:

The Barbarons housing project Phase 2 and 3 comprising around 80 new housing units.

Refurbishment of the Stad Linite’s athletics tartan track and the construction of a modern sports arena at Anse Royale.

For the health sector, this includes the acquisition of a modern MRI machine and the provision of financial assistance for two specialist personnel to work with the Ministry of Health.

Other existing major projects sponsored by the UAE government such as the La Digue Hospital as well as the Renewable Energy project, the drugs rehabilitation centre, and the IECD building remain active and are making steady progress.

President Wavel Ramkalawan, on behalf of the people of Seychelles and on his personal behalf, has expressed sincere appreciation to the UAE government for their willingness and commitment to further enhance the country-to-country partnership with Seychelles. “Seychelles is extremely grateful for the immense opportunities and support extended to our people through the implementation of those projects. Seychelles remains open to explore more mechanisms to deepen collaboration with the UAE government through the sharing of expertise, experiences, capacity building, and training programmes, as well as other joint ventures for the mutual benefit of both our nations,” President Ramkalawan said.
