Victoria: On the occasion of International Nurses Day, the President of Seychelles extended heartfelt appreciation to the nation's nurses, highlighting their pivotal role in the healthcare system. In a message dedicated to both Seychellois and foreign, working and retired nurses, the President emphasized the essential contributions they make by providing care marked by skill, empathy, and commitment. According to African Press Organization, the President also acknowledged the recent commemoration of the International Day of Midwives, appreciating the dual roles played by those who serve as both nurses and midwives. The message emphasized the invaluable support and expertise they offer during critical moments such as childbirth, reinforcing the heart of nursing and midwifery. The President recognized the contribution of male nurses, noting their role in challenging stereotypes and enriching the p rofession. He highlighted the importance of diversity in caregiving and commended their dedication and unique perspectives, which enhance the quality of care provided. Looking to the future, the President called upon institutions such as the National Institute of Health and Social Studies (NIHSS) and the University of Seychelles (UNISEY) to collaborate in developing innovative training programs for nurses. These initiatives aim to equip nursing professionals with necessary skills to meet current and future healthcare challenges. The government expressed its commitment to supporting the growth and advancement of nursing professionals, emphasizing the creation of pathways for further training, career progression, and opportunities for nurses to practice advanced nursing. With the upcoming construction of a new Seychelles Hospital, the President highlighted exciting prospects for the nursing workforce.
