Seven out of the 20 fashion designers preparing to take part in the 4th Fashion Week that will be held on November 27, will be Seychellois.
This year’s fashion extravaganza will take place at L’Escale Resort & Marina on November 27 in two different shows – one from 3pm to 6pm and the other from 7pm to 10pm.
Both local and international models will parade in a variety of high quality designs including a collection of Haute Couture designs by Paris-based Malagasy designer Eric Raisina.
Well-known designer Romeo Paul from Qatar is also back with his designs as well as different household names in the Seychellois fashion industry namely Athalia Barbe with her brand
L’Elegance Africaine Seychelles, Ousna Johnson with her brand OjZ Seychelles, Fina Zialor with her brand Zialor, Tamarisk Moncherry with her brand Moncherry Brides who specialises in wedding gowns and evening wear as well as Darren Esther with his brand D axtra.
This year a large group of well known South African designers are also taking part in the show and they comprise both females and males including Silungie Mokoena and Lunga Ntuli. There will also be a designer from the United States, Clavon Leonard, and one from the United Arab Emirates Hackman.
The organiser of the Fashion Week, Terry Carolla of Telly’s Modelling Agency, said yesterday that preparations for the big event are well underway and this is being done with the approval of standard operating procedures (SOPs) from the Public Health Authority and the measures are being put in place.
Talking about participation in the fashion show, Mr Carolla said they were expecting at least 10 designers in view of the Covid-19 restrictions both locally and internationally but he noted that the pandemic has not dampen the interest to take part in the event.
“Participation has been overwhelming and I believe interest has increased due to words of mouth as the show in 2019 was a great success,” Mr Carolla said.
He added that there has been no public advertisement for Fashion Week 2021 just a post of its date on its webpage but the number of registrations has surpassed organisers’ expectations.
“This is a clear indication that a lot of designers follow our activities and several designers who registered after the deadline date, which was the end of September, have been rescheduled for next year’s show,” Mr Carolla said.
It is to be recalled that last year the show was held for local designers only.
Meanwhile Mr Carolla has called on all fashion lovers in the country to book their place directly with the hotel to come and enjoy any of the two shows and has promised they will not regret it.
