Victoria: H.E. Mr. Carlos Federico Feo Acevedo, the Ambassador-designate of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Republic of Seychelles, paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora, Mr. Barry Faure, as part of his accreditation visit. This meeting served as a platform for the two parties to reaffirm their longstanding diplomatic ties and bonds of friendship.
According to African Press Organization, the discussion included acknowledgment of the solidarity shown by the Government of Seychelles following the earthquakes that affected Venezuela in June. Conversations also centered on enhancing bilateral cooperation, with both sides reviewing progress towards a Visa Waiver Agreement and exploring collaboration in areas like the Blue Economy, fisheries, climate change, energy, tourism, and education.
The meeting also emphasized the importance of cooperation through capacity-building initiatives, technical exchanges, and the sharing of knowledge and best practices. Both Seychelles and Venezuela expressed their shared dedication to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focusing on ocean governance, sustainable tourism, renewable energy, and inclusive economic growth.
H.E. Mr. Feo Acevedo, who will be the third Ambassador of Venezuela accredited to Seychelles, is set to reside in Pretoria, South Africa. Diplomatic relations between Venezuela and Seychelles were established on 15 April 1991.
