Ruger wows Seychelles’ audience

Organisers thank public for turning up in droves

Organisers of a concert featuring popular Nigerian Afrobeat star Ruger has thanked the Seychellois public for their enthusiasm and support during the show, which took place last Friday at the Music Stadium in Victoria.

Thousands of fans filled the stadium for the over seven-hour show, in which nearly an hour was reserved for Ruger, the young star who has taken the world by storm with his popular Afrobeat songs. At Friday’s concert, he performed some of his most popular ones including Girlfriend, Dior and Bounce among others.

Although the concert was not sold out, as initially anticipated, the main organiser, Terrence Cedras of Trence Bartending, said they were happy with the turnout.

“It attracted a large crowd and so far we have been receiving only positive feedback from those who were present,” he said.

The night also featured renowned local artists like Mercenary, Gunz, Aslan and Jahkim, accompanied by local disc jockeys.

When asked about their next big project, Mr Cedras said it was too early to say but they were presently mulling over it and this will be announced in due course.

Ruger, whose real name is Michael Adebayo Olayinka, left the country on Saturday morning after a two-day stay in Seychelles where he was also spotted in town on Friday taking photos with the fans.

Other than Trence Bartending Services, the other sponsors were Veuve Productions, Marketing Guru, Seychelles Breweries Limited and Pure FM.
