“I’m proud to be a peser. I am 71 years old and have a job that I have done all my life. I can’t live without the sea. Peser is a strong community with a lot of challenges.
“I remember very well that I started to worry about the boats that we called ‘open ice’, there were no cabins there. Rain, thunder, sun, little blanket. I remember that we had to sleep in the bottom of the boat, we would have to put tarps or put plastic on us to protect us from the weather. The same thing that made us strong. The ship that I started working on is called ‘Laflamm’. Annefe is still here. It anchors near the Laskar shop, Anse Royale. We went everywhere. Little taste of the pond!
“I am still suffering and I can say that I am young and strong. There is only one difficulty. There is a lack of support for Anse Forbans fishermen.
“I encourage people to take this field. Pain is not just a career but a way of life. If you take it seriously and you like it, there is value and principle in peace. There is time to learn about the sea.”
