The new Seychellois member of the French Parliament, Honourable Monica Michel Brassart, paid a courtesy call on President Wavel Ramkalawan yesterday afternoon at State House.
Hon. Michel-Brassart, who was born and raised in Seychelles, said that a Seychellois in the Parliament in France is a little peculiar but she is nevertheless very proud.
The objective of her meeting with the president was for the latter to congratulate her as well as to discuss various interesting subjects.
The member of the French parliament who is also the president of ‘Groupe d’amitié France-Seychelles’ together with the embassy of Seychelles in Paris, said they have made various exchanges between the two countries.
She added that it was riveting to also exchange with the speaker of the National Assembly of Seychelles and she believes they have a lot of work to do in regards to cooperation between the two parliaments.
Hon. Michel Brassart said she feels honoured to occupy a seat in the French Parliament.
She said women in Seychelles are affronted by challenges like every woman worldwide. She therefore salutes and commends the women of Seychelles to be able to live their lives as women, as mothers and as entrepreneurs.
She urges the women forward, with a special thought to the women in Ukraine particularly as they are also faced with major problems that touch them deeply.
