President Ramkalawan sends condolence message following the passing of Dr Maxime Ferrari

The President of the Republic, Wavel Ramkalawan, has expressed his heartfelt sympathy and deepest condolences to the Designated Minister Jean-François Ferrari and the Ferrari family on the passing away of Dr Maxime Ferrari.

President Ramkalawan has sent the condolence message on behalf of the government, the people of Seychelles and on behalf of his family.

“Today, as we celebrate Independence Day, we mourn a respectable son of the soil who served as minister in the first cabinet. Seychelles is mourning the passing of a true son of Seychelles. Dr Ferrari made immense contributions to the country’s and our nation’s development as a renowned medical practitioner, political icon and active citizen. His lively personality and immense knowledge as well as the love for his country are traits we hope our younger generation will emulate. We say goodbye to another Praslinois who served his country with great devotion and pride,” said President Ramkalawan.

Dr Ferrari held several positions in government and within the UN. He was a champion of human rights and democracy.

“We pray for the repose of his soul as we uphold his widow and children,” President Ramkalawan’s message concluded.
