New Year’s street party back on

Following two years of Covid restrictions, the much-loved street party held in town annually to usher in the New Year is back.

As always, this year’s fiesta is being organised by Basil Bouchereau, the face behind the anticipated event since 2007.

From as early as 10am on Saturday December 31, a number of stalls will be already offering food, drinks and other goodies at the Stad Popiler Car Park, although the main celebrations are to kick off at 6pm.

Musical entertainment by a number of local artists will be one of the highlights of the evening as usual, starting off in the early hours of the evening with younger artists such as Molo, MV and Ion Kid, while others who are more into traditional music, namely, Phillip Toussaint, Joseph Sinon and John Wirtz will take to the stage as the night progresses, accompanied by a live band.

This year, thanks to construction company Turnkey Solutions, there will also be a dazzling fireworks display at the stroke of midnight, as families, friends and loved ones embrace and wish each other the happiest of New Year wishes.

“The last street party was held in 2019, so everyone is looking forward to this one, and they will not be disappointed as we have planned and organised a great soiree with great ambience for all,” Mr Bouchereau noted.

The show is being realised in collaboration with MV Lights and Sounds and the festivities are set to come to an end at 2am with DJ Not Nyce on the decks.
