Minister of Health receives Chinese Ambassador on farewell visit

Mrs. Peggy Vidot, the Minister of Health, received on Tuesday, December 27, at the headquarters of the ministry, the outgoing Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Seychelles, HE Mrs. Guo Wei, for a last visit, while the mandate of the ambassador is coming to an end.

Ms. Vidot expressed her gratitude to the Ambassador for the outstanding contributions of the People’s Republic of China during Ms. Guo Wei’s tenure.

“The donations that China has made to the Seychelles over the past two years have helped us a lot to mitigate the adverse effects of the pandemic,” said Ms. Vidot.

The meeting between the Minister and the Ambassador was also an opportunity to highlight the main areas of cooperation between the two countries, in particular the cooperation of the Ministry of Health with the medical team from China, which sends medical specialists in the Seychelles for periods of two years, for several years.

Ambassador Guo Wei assured Minister Vidot of the continued support of her government through his successor and expressed the hope that relations between the Republic of Seychelles and the People’s Republic of China will be further consolidated in various fields of cooperation.

“Among other things, a new medical team will be in Seychelles around April 2023, to continue this great collaboration,” she said.

HE Guo Wei served as Ambassador for a period of four years and two months. She presented her credentials to former President Danny Faure at State House on October 23, 2018.

The Minister wished HE Guo Wei much success and prosperity in his future activities.
