“As every SDG (sustainable development goal) is a call for action, we can only get there if we all work together. We all want a world that is better, fairer and more sustainable. A world that can be enjoyed today and protected for future generations.”

This statement comes in a message from the Minister for Investment, Entrepreneurship and Industry, Devika Vidot, on the occasion of World Standards Day being celebrated today, October 14.

The full text of Minister Vidot’s message reads:

“Today, October 14, the world celebrates Word Standards Day. Seychelles as a member of the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO), International Electro-technical Commission (IEC) and International Telecommunication Union (ITU) also join the International standardisation communities to pay tributes to the collaborative efforts of thousands of experts world-wide who develop the voluntary technical agreements that are published as international standards.

“This year’s theme is ‘SDGs, Our shared vision for a better world’. The 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) are a universal call for action to end poverty, protect the planet, and improve the lives and prospects of all. Seychelles as a United Nation member state has adopted these goals as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

“As every SDG is a call for action, we can only get there if we all work together. We all want a world that is better, fairer and more sustainable. A world that can be enjoyed today and protected for future generations.

“International standards developed by ISO, IEC and ITU offers practical solutions we can all stand behind. By using international standards, we can become part of the solution.”
