KAAF University Inaugurates Fifth Governing Council to Lead Strategic Vision

Accra: The KAAF University has inaugurated a 14-member governing council under the chairmanship of Prof. K.B. Omane Antwi, tasked with steering the institution’s affairs for the next four years. The newly constituted council aims to ensure the delivery of superior teaching standards, recruit qualified lecturers, adhere to strategic plans and budgets, and enhance the student experience.

According to Ghana News Agency, Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, in a speech read on his behalf, urged the council to uphold the institution’s mission and vision amid global academic challenges. He emphasized the importance of guiding KAAF University toward achieving its strategic objectives, promoting inclusivity, and fostering strong relationships with various stakeholders.

Speaker Bagbin highlighted five key values for the council’s adherence: embracing the institution’s mission and vision, promoting excellence and innovation, championing inclusivity, upholding transparency and accountability, and engaging stakeholders. He encouraged the council to focus on excellence not just in academics, but in life, values, and morals, warning against producing graduates lacking integrity.

Prof. Omane Antwi, the council’s chair now in his third term, expressed commitment to a research-driven vision. He noted the prior councils’ efforts in obtaining a charter for the university and emphasized the fifth council’s dedication to building on those achievements. Prof. Antwi highlighted the role of research in addressing national challenges, such as the recent Mpox outbreak, and called for government support through tax incentives and scholarships for private universities.

Mr. Michael Aidoo, the Chancellor and Founder, reflected on the institution’s growth and expressed optimism that the fifth council would continue to build on its legacy. He outlined the university’s vision of global recognition in STEM and arts education, preparing students for leadership and innovation in the 21st-century workforce.

The institution also unveiled a new block and a statue named after Mr. Martin Mensa, the first chairman of the governing council, marking another milestone in its history.
