Accra: Japanese Resident Ambassador meets new Foreign Affairs Department (FAD) Principal Secretary. The Japanese Resident Ambassador, H.E. Mr. SAKUTA Makoto, paid a courtesy call on the newly appointed Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ian Madeleine, on Tuesday 26th August at Maison Quéau de Quinssy.
According to African Press Organization, discussions between the two diplomats focused on finalizing a visa waiver for Seychellois official and diplomatic passport holders. They also explored the possibility of extending this facilitation to ordinary passport holders. Additionally, the meeting included a review of ongoing school exchange programs. Earlier this year, Japanese high school students visited Seychelles, followed by a reciprocating visit by Seychellois students to Japan.
The conversation also covered Seychelles' participation in Expo 2025, currently underway in Osaka, and explored the potential for involvement in the International Horticultural Expo 2027 (GREEN x EXPO 2027) in Yokohama.
