Ireland Expresses Keenness to Cement Relations with Ethiopia

State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mesganu Arga today conferred with the Secretary General of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Ireland, Joseph Hackett, on ways of strengthening the relations between the two countries.

During the meeting, the State Minister highlighted the longstanding diplomatic relations between the two countries and the need to strengthen through re-engagements with a spirit of partnership.

He also briefed the Secretary General of the continued commitment of the Government of Ethiopia to fully implement the Pretoria Peace Agreement.

Ambassador Misganu has also called on Ireland to support the ongoing rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts.

The Secretary General of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Ireland, Joseph Hackett on his part said, his country supports the incessant efforts of the Ethiopian Government to consolidate peace.

He has also expressed his country’s keenness to cement relations at bilateral and multilateral venues with Ethiopia.
