Hohoe: Mr. Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo, Hohoe Constituency Member of Parliament (MP) and Mr. Prosper Kumi, Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), joined the Hohoe Muslim community to mark the 2025 Eid al-Adha celebrations. Eid al-Adha, also known as the 'Festival of the Sacrifice,' is celebrated worldwide and commemorates the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son, Ishmael, as an act of obedience to God.
According to Ghana News Agency, the prayers were led by Alhaji Mohammed Abdul Hamidu, the Hohoe Municipal Deputy Chief Imam, who encouraged the community to continue giving alms and showing love to all, regardless of religious background. The celebration included the traditional sacrifice of a ram, symbolizing the essence of Eid al-Adha.
Mr. Tsekpo highlighted the National Democratic Congress's (NDC) commitment to the Zongo Community, promising developmental initiatives and employment opportunities for the youth. He mentioned that ambassadorial posts and scholarships had been offered to community members and announced plans for a 24-hour market and a new Islamic Senior High School in Hohoe Zongo.
Mr. Kumi stressed the importance of peaceful coexistence for development and urged community leaders to maintain harmony. He encouraged the Zongo community to contribute by paying property rates and business permits.
The MP and MCE made donations to support the celebration, while Sarki Tajudeen Mairiga, the Zongo Chief of Hohoe, expressed gratitude and highlighted upcoming discussions with authorities on community security issues.
