High level parliamentary delegation from Eswatini meets with Speaker Mancienne

National Assembly Speaker Roger Mancienne and his deputy Gervais Henrie met with a high level parliamentary delegation from Eswatini last week to discuss the Pension Fund system.

The Eswatini delegation was headed by Phila Buthelezi, Minister for Labour and Social Security and also present was Prince Lonkhokhela.

Hon. Buthelezi thanked Speaker Mancienne for the warm welcome and provided an overview of the reason for the visit of the delegation to Seychelles.

He further explained that the visit is to provide the delegation with information and learn best practices, as Eswatini is planning to switch from a National Provident Fund system to a Pension Fund system.

It was highlighted that the delegation has met with the Seychelles Pension Fund board and were to have various meetings with other entities to further exchange best practices.

Speaker Mancienne welcomed the delegation and explained the system in place in Seychelles and provided guidance on the importance of ensuring that the system they decide to implement is sustainable.

Hon. Henrie discussed the education of the citizens of Seychelles and the importance of voluntary contributions.

The discussions were fruitful and both delegations were able to share information about both national parliaments.

The delegation ended their meeting with a tour of the parliamentary museum and the chamber.

In attendance at the meeting was also Darell Bristol, head of corporate communications at the Seychelles Pension Fund.
