Addis Ababa: The green development works underway in Ethiopia have turned local blessings into wealth, Dire Dawa City Administration Deputy Mayor Ibrahim Yesuf said.
A panel discussion organized by ENA under the theme “Green Development for Sustainable Prosperity” was held in Dire Dawa city today.
Deputy Mayor Ibrahim Yesuf remarked at the panel that the activities under implementation through the Green Legacy Initiative after the national reform are advancing the efforts launched to pass on a prosperous Ethiopia to generations.
According to him, the green development work initiated by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has yielded tangible results nationwide with the broad societal participation.
The green development work has helped mitigate damage from floods, particularly in flood-prone areas like Dire Dawa, he added.
Moreover, the green development initiatives have not only ensured food security of farmers, but also generated employment opportunities for the youth.
Ibrahim pointed out that the panel discuss
ion organized by the administration, in cooperation with the Ethiopian News Agency, will offer valuable insight into the ongoing green legacy development efforts across the nation.
Ethiopian News Agency CEO, Seife Deribe, noted that green development plays a crucial role in preserving a sustainable ecosystem for future generations and mitigating the impacts of climate change by safeguarding natural resources.
In the agricultural sector, it fosters the growth of crops and livestock resources while helping to prevent the adverse effects of flood and drought.
Furthermore, it helps to foster self esteem and independently by doing away with dependency, he elaborated.
The CEO noted that the Ethiopian News Agency is paying great attention to this national agenda and instilling the idea of ??growth and change through development, especially by building a mindset that is free from dependency.

e focused on green development, Seife stated.
The forum was attended by House of People’s Representatives Democracy Affairs Standing Committee Chairman Ewnetu Alene, federal and Diredawa city administration officials as well as representatives of institutions working on climate change and green development.
