GranKaz staff donate to charity

With the spirit of giving that prevails every December for the festive season, the GranKaz staff members have donated items to the orphanages on Mahé.

The donation is part of the staff’s outreach programmes, an initiative started earlier this year to give back to the community.

For the donation, the staff started with a donation box to chip in whatever money they had and also bought and brought in other items.

Among the items collected were clothes for the children at the St Elizabeth Convent, including, diapers and wipes for the babies, feminine products for the girls at Foyer de La Solitude, clothes, school supplies and a washing machine for the boys at Foyer de Nazareth, and clothes, cups and books for the children at the President’s Village.

The donation from the staff were also matched by a R14,000 donation by the company that went mostly towards the cost of baby formula, diapers, wipes and other items, such as soap, lotion and powder for the babies at the St Elizabeth Convent.

The donation started at Foyer de Nazareth (La Gogue) and proceeded to the President’s Village (Port Glaud), Foyer de La Solitude (La Misère) and St Elizabeth Convent (Victoria).

GranKaz public relations and communication manager, Sharma Amesbury, said that in times of financial difficulties due to Covid-19, which have affected businesses and individuals, charitable organisations need help more than ever and this was why they have chosen to donate to the orphanages.

She stated that they contacted the orphanages on the items they needed.

Further to the donation, the staff have also been involved in beach clean-ups and other volunteering activities.
