Frenchman Thomas Debatisse found not guilty of girlfriend’s murder

French street artist Thomas Debatisse, known as Otom, has been found not guilty by the jury for the murder of his girlfriend Emmanuelle Badibanga who was found on April 27, 2021 hanging from the towel rail in their bathroom at Club Med on the island of Sainte-Anne, where they were staying.

Emmanuelle Badibanga, 32, was manager of an events venue in Nice, France.

After a final review of the facts by judge Melchior Vidot on Thursday morning, the eight-member jury debated, and it was around 4.30am on Friday morning that six of them found Debatisse not guilty as the prosecution had not proved the defendant guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. The defense attorney for the case was Basil Hoareau.

To note, the 35-year-old French national pleaded not guilty to the charge of the murder of his 32-year-old girlfriend who was found hanged in the evening of April 27, 2021.
