Undefeated Real Maldives lead standings with maximum points
With the first leg of competition almost over, unbeaten Real Maldives who are also the defending champions, are sitting on top of the table in the Seychelles Football Federation beach soccer league, having collected maximum 30 points from 10 wins in as many matches played.
The Maldives-based team have scored 100 goals, while conceding 59, and won all their matches in regular time.
It is to note that in beach soccer, a win in regular time carries three points, while an extra-time victory is worth two points. As for a win on penalty shoot-out, it carries one point.
Last season’s league runners-up and Seychelles Football Federation (SFF) Cup winners One Stone are presently second on 24 points from eight wins and one defeat out of nine matches played. They have scored 67 goals and let in 39.
Marine Maintenance are presently third overall, having accumulated 18 points from six victories and three defeats out of nine matches played, scoring 54 goals and conceding 47.
The other Maldives-based side in the league, Sunrise, are currently fourth overall in the ranking on 17 points, having won six matches, and lost two out of eight encounters, with one penalty-shootout victory. Their goals tally is 50 for and 41 against.
With six wins and three defeats out of nine matches played for 16 points, Beach Boyz are presently fifth overall, having scored 64 goals and conceded 57.
Vision are presently in the sixth overall spot with 15 points accumulated from five wins and three defeats out of eight matches played.
They have scored 62 goals and conceded 46, remaining ahead of MLUH who were supposed to be in action last night against Persévérance.
Before yesterday’s game, MLUH were occupying the seventh spot on 12 points from four wins and the same number of defeats out of eight matches played.
Compared to Vision, MLUH had a goal difference of +3, while the latter boast a difference of +16 goals.
With three wins and four defeats, Sorry are presently eighth overall on nine points, have scored 35 goals and conceded 36 for a goal difference of -1.
With a total of six points, Equator are occupying the ninth overall spot with two victories and seven defeats out of nine matches played, scoring 35 goals and letting in 54.
Club Stormy are presently 10th overall on five points from two wins and six defeats out of eight matches, with one the two victories coming in extra-time, earning them two points, instead of three.
With a single victory and eight losses out of nine matches played, Persévérance were, until yesterday, occupying the 11th overall spot on the table with three points, and in case of regular-time victory over MLUH last night, they would leapfrog Club Stormy into 10th place.
Skychef are presently occupying the 12th overall spot on three points from a single win and seven losses out of eight matches, having scored 37 goals and conceded 77.
With a single extra-time victory and seven defeats out eight matches played, Glacis are carrying the weight of the league table on two points with 33 goals scored and 64 conceded.
Meanwhile, four matches are scheduled for this weekend. Tonight, Sorry will play against Skychef at 5.30pm, while at 6.45pm Sunrise will meet One Stone.
Tomorrow at 4pm, Glacis will meet Beach Boyz, while at 5.15pm, Real Maldives will play against Equator.
All matches will be played at the Roche Caïman Beach Soccer Arena.
