Seychelles has lost one of its greatest female sopranos ‒ Gene Essack née Weber.
She passed away yesterday.
Born in 1946, Mrs Essack had just celebrated her 76th birthday on October 22.
Seychelles NATION has learned that Mrs Essack fell and broke her arm, had an operation and did not recover from it.
Sister to Norman and Radley Weber, Mrs Essack was a member of the Choral and Music Society of Seychelles, a choir founded by local guitarist, singer and music instructor David Andre who is now the secretary general of the Seychelles National Institute of Culture, Heritage and Arts, and also the mayor of Victoria.
