Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Demeke Mekonnen held a discussion with South Korean Foreign Minister Park Jin.
South Korean Foreign Minister Park Jin is in Addis Ababa for a two day official visit to Ethiopia.
As part of his visit, the Foreign Affairs Minister has this morning conferred with the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Demeke Mekonnen.
During the occasion, the two sides have exchanged views on strengthening cooperation in economic development, trade, investment and other issues of common interest.
In a joint press briefing following the discussion, Demeke said the discussion was fruitful vital to further strengthen the bilateral ties of the two countries.
He added that the two countries are celebrating their 60th year anniversary of diplomatic relations.
“We will renew our commitment to further enhance bilateral relations and multilateral cooperation.”
Park Jin on his part said he held diplomatic meeting with Demeke and discussed on various issues of common interest.
“We discussed ways to enhancing development cooperation, human exchange, trade and investment.”
The South Korean Foreign Minister also said that Korea is keen to strengthen cooperation in the areas of education, health and infrastructure development.
Korea will not forget the sacrifices Ethiopians had paid during the Korea war to defend peace, he indicated.
Foreign Minister Jin in his visit to Ethiopia is expected to meet with other senior government officials to discuss on ways of further strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries.
