Addis Ababa: The State Ministry of Finance Semereta Sewasew consulted with the French Development Agency (AFD) on support for renewable, integrated, sustainable energy, and digitalization in Ethiopia.
The consultation focused on joint support for renewable, integrated, sustainable energy, and digitalization, involving the European Union, the European Investment Bank, and the French Treasury.
AFDs support in the Ethiopian energy sector focuses on improving distribution, reducing losses, and ensuring a stable electricity supply, according to Ministry of Finance.
Moreover, AFD financed Ethiopia’s inaugural wind farm project and continue to support the initiatives.
The support will contribute to different sectors in the energy, telecom, and cross-sector fields namely gender equality, risk disaster management, climate change adaptation, climate change mitigation, digitalization, and connectivity.
The State Minister of Finance, Semereta Sewasew emphasized the critical importance of the energy sector, acknowled
ging Ethiopia’s immense potential in this field.
The Meeting was attended by AFD team along with the heads of the European Union Delegation, the European Investment Bank, the AFD Country Director and French Embassy official.
