Espace Café and Bar spreads Christmas cheer among orphans

Espace Café and Bar might just be one of the newest business ventures on the block, but it is certainly one with heart.

The chic café, Espace building’s latest addition, yesterday hosted the boys of the Foyer de Nazareth orphanage for an afternoon filled with fun, thrill and festive cheer.

The eighteen boys who are aged between 5 and 17 were treated to a Christmas party where they had an assortment of snacks, food and drinks, child-friendly programmes projected on the big screen, and presents for each of them.

As the orphanage often faces difficulties in acquiring school supplies, Espace Café and Bar generously donated enough supplies for all of them, including school bags, also adding a financial donation towards school uniforms.

Owner Ralph Estico, who describes himself as a ‘people person’, noted that he has always valued giving back to the community, and that his latest venture is simply following in the footsteps of mother company, the Ralph Estico Cleaning Agency (RCA), which seizes every opportunity throughout the year to support different causes and groups within the community.

“I have always believed in giving and there is no better way than to give back to the kids. As we are in the festive season, a time of year which is especially exciting for the kids, we know that it is the children from orphanages who are most in need, and stand to benefit from such activities to soothe their heart,” Mr Estico said.

The café which doubles as a fully-licensed bar, officially opened its doors on November 19, the eve of the World Cup 2022 tournament.

Operational from 8am to 11pm, the facility serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, with all-day breakfasts as an option, and dishes to suit any taste buds and diets, with plenty of healthy and vegetarian options as well, and at very competitive prices.

In addition to a varied selection of salads, wraps, pizzas, sides and other healthy options, it offers a kids menu, and a nice selection of sweet treats including signature cakes baked by internal staff, and other options sourced from other local producers.

“Being a small Seychellois company, we also like to promote other small Seychellois-owned businesses,” representative Sabrina Agathine added, noting that fruits, vegetables and fish are sourced from small local suppliers.

For those who are short for time but still want to grab a delicious bite or something more delectable than the usual takeaway lunches, Espace Café and Bar offers its menu items on takeaway basis, and has even introduced the lunch combo concept, with two lunch menu options accompanied by either a drink or dessert, available during the week. The lunch combo is priced at only R99 and is either on takeaway basis, or as a sit-down option.

Partnering with delivery companies like Wheelies also means that clients who are unable to make it to the café physically can still have their bites, drinks and favourite cocktails delivered to them.

Espace Café and Bar also caters for private and corporate events.

The exquisitely designed and decorated space attracts both locals and foreigners, spanning from corporate clients to families who tend to flock to the café towards the weekend.

The business is proudly operating with a fully Seychellois workforce and while it presently takes a small kitchen break during the day, it hopes to be able to provide non-stop kitchen service in the near future.
