‘Digital technology is the way forward’ says Minister Hassan

Minister Naadir Hassan headed a delegation from the Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning and Trade on a visit to the Fetch & JOBO.sc showroom at Providence, on Tuesday 08th June 2021.

Being a fervent believer in adopting technology to work efficiently and smarter, Minister Hassan was only too happy to accept the invite to see for himself what digital/technological products Mr. Hervé Chang-Yunn, the Founder/CEO of JOBO.sc and Fetch has on offer.

“Everyone is online nowadays and digital technology is the way forward.”

While Mr. Chang Yunn admitted that in its infancy, he didn’t envisage that his digital business will be embraced, he does say that there’s been acceptance, especially for the use of his JOBO.sc platform, which stands for Job Opportunities.

JOBO is a digital platform where vacancies, tenders, courses, scholarships, etc can be advertised for a fee, and a new addition to the app is that it can now host video adverts as well.

“It was difficult at the very beginning and even now it is still a battle to change the mindset of people, to get them to adopt technology in their everyday operation.”

Mr. Chang Yunn also has another company, called Fetch, that offers clients a comprehensive range of digital signage solutions for different purposes, including outdoor solutions as well as video Conferencing solutions from Logitech and Zoom.

Minister Hassan, noted “it is inevitable, the country will have to adopt technology moving forward because it is the future that Seychelles needs.”

As part of its efforts to diversify the economy, the Government is pushing ahead to develop the digital sector as another source of revenue and exportation for the country.

Accompanying Minister Hassan on the visit this morning was the Director General for Human Resources Management and Administration, Ms. Pamela Payet, and Mr. Darney Barbe, IT Systems Support Manager.
