Addis Ababa, Ethiopian Defense Force is marking the 116th Army Day with various events.

The Army Day is being observed to draw public attention to national defense and to acquaint the public with the activities of the army.

The Day is also marked to renew commitment of the army in ensuring peace and stability of the country and to demonstrate the military preparedness as well as encourage others to sustain the legacy of the army.

It is also to highlight the importance of peace and commemorate those who sacrifice their lives for maintaining peace.

It was indicated that considering the geopolitical situation, the army need to be further strengthened.

As part of the Army Day, a panel discussion was organized at the national defense force main department today.

It was indicated at the panel discussion that in Ethiopia’s army has a paramount place in the history of the country that had gone through various historical events.

Army officials, representative of Ethiopian Patriotic Association, former army officers and other invited guests are attending the panel discussion.

The National Army Day will be celebrated at national level with a variety of special events on Thursday.
