Abuja: Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru, declared the Defence Holding Company Ltd. as a platform for innovation and a catalyst for growth during its inauguration on Wednesday.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the minister emphasized that the company is not merely a collection of businesses but a beacon of hope for a brighter future. He expressed optimism that the company would fulfill national aspirations by creating value, driving growth, and making a positive impact, aligning with the administration's renewed hope agenda.
Badaru highlighted that the inauguration was a pivotal step towards shaping the future of the military's economic contributions and non-kinetic efforts. He noted that the company would also enhance the welfare of Armed Forces personnel in various ways.
In his remarks, Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa Musa, stated that the company and its subsidiaries are private liability entities. He explained that the company was created to coordinate the business activities of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, with a focus on improving security, innovation, self-reliance, and economic diversification within the defence sector.
Musa further elaborated that the Defence Headquarters would provide unified strategic direction, harness local resources, guide indigenous defence production, and identify key sectors for public-private partnerships. He emphasized that the company, through its subsidiaries, will significantly contribute to the development of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
