Nichol Esparon is the winner of this year’s President’s Cup ? a singles competition played on a knockout system.
Inside the Happy Youth Club darts room, Esparon did what he failed to do last year when he lost 6-9 to Marc Pouponneau in the final.
Up against Hans Radegonde in the first-to-seven final, Esparon lost the first game, but came back to equalise at 1-1 and even take a 2-1 lead before Radegonde pulled equal at 2-2. That was the best Radegonde could do as Esparon pulled out all the tricks in the bag to win the next five games and the match 7-2.
Winner Esparon had eliminated Keith Vidot on a 3-2 score in the first-to-three quarterfinal before whitewashing Patrick Radegonde 5-0 in the first-to-five semifinal encounter.
Losing finalist Hans Radegonde edged Bernard Berlouis 3-2 in the quarterfinal and beat Edmond Azemia 5-2 in the semis.
In the third place playoff match, Edmond Azemia edged Patrick Radegonde 3-2.
The competition also registered a bull finish 66 by Edmond Azemia, while both Ranga Chetty and Hans Radegonde scored 180.
Captain Jack Micock got the highest finish of 123.
