Czech, Austria Vow to Bolster Multifaceted Cooperation with Ethiopia

Addis Ababa Czech Republic and Austria have vowed to further bolster multifaceted cooperation with Ethiopia.

Embassies of Czech Republic and Austria have marked their national day in Addis Ababa.

During the occasion, Ambassador of Czech Republic to Ethiopia, Miroslav Kosek highlighted the importance of strengthening bilateral relations with Ethiopia.

“The Czech Republic’s association with Ethiopia in the realm of development dates back many decades. They are committed to supporting and empowering Ethiopia’s economic potential, striving for sustainable and inclusive economic growth.”

This growth is poised to combat poverty, bridge inequalities, enhance employment opportunities, and foster self-sufficiency across all segments of the population, the ambassador added.

He said “our common ultimate goal is to elevate the overall quality of life when people’s most basic needs are met.”

Noting there are many great cooperation between the Czech Republic and Ethiopia for many decades, hundreds of Ethiopian students graduated from Czech universities contributing to the development of their country, according to the ambassador.

The Ambassador reiterated the importance of further cementing the existing bilateral relationship between the two countries.

Austrian Ambassador to Ethiopia, Simone Knapp said Ethiopia is one of the countries that we focus on our development cooperation.

Since 1993, the Austrian Development Corporation in Ethiopia has focused on resilience building and improving livelihoods as well as fostering human rights in a peaceful society, the ambassador stated.

Pointing out that efforts are underway to foster the partnerships between universities of the two countries, she indicated that more than 500 students from Ethiopia studied in Austria so far.

Moreover, she elaborated that Austria has been supporting coffee producers in Ethiopia in order to strengthen coffee production as coffee is the biggest export product of Ethiopia.
