Beni: La MONUSCO has initiated the construction of a new building in the Beni territory to house the services for gender, family, and child welfare, along with the division of social affairs and the youth office.
According to Radio Okapi, Bernadette Kahindo Mbamulyakoki, head of the gender, family, and child office in Beni, stated that this initiative addresses infrastructure issues and will enhance both the reception and quality of services provided to the community. She expressed that the project, long-awaited, is a realized dream, bringing joy and pride as it will offer a pleasant and motivating work environment. The new space will allow for better visitor accommodation.
The project, classified as a rapid impact initiative, is valued at 47,860 USD and is expected to be completed in three months, employing local labor. The plan includes equipping the building with a meeting room capable of hosting over 30 people.
Bernadette Kahindo expressed gratitude towards MONUSCO for its commitment to promoting women’s rights and participation in governance.
