As part of the ‘open week’ event to commemorate World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, Anilla Joseph of Anse Boileau secondary school was chosen to take on the role of chief executive (CEO) at Airtel yesterday.
With the motive of creating a younger generation of passionate and ambitious leaders, Anilla was given the chance to run Airtel for the day. She had a taste of how it feels to be a CEO and the kind of decisions that have to be undertaken.
This is the first time such an event is hosted at Airtel Seychelles.
During the day, Anilla had the opportunity to talk to all the CEOs of Airtel across the world. She was able to listen to and discuss matters regarding Airtel Seychelles.
“I’m proud of myself because this will motivate me to become what I want to be tomorrow,” said Anilla.
Anilla noted that she is already interested in the career of engineering for Information Communications Technology (ICT) and would like to continue to grow her interest in this field.
As an S5 student and the head girl of Anse Boileau school, she is currently studying subjects like ICT, Physics, Design and Technology, Math, English and French, which will later help her to enter her desired field of work.
All suit up in a pink pastel dress, Anilla met the technical team in the morning, gave some interviews, headed for breakfast then went in her office to flip through some documents.
Fun Fact: Yesterday, the CEO of Airtel, Amadou Dina, was jobless as he was mentoring the CEO of the day!
