As a last sign of solidarity before her departure, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, Her Excellency Mrs. Guo Wei signed last Friday with the Chief of the Defense Forces, Brigadier Michael Rosette, a military protocol on the donation of an escort vessel to the General Staff of the Seychelles Defense Force.

During the signing ceremony which took place at the headquarters of the Defense Forces in Bel Eau, Brigadier Rosette thanked Ambassador Guo for this beautiful gesture of solidarity which is in line with the military assistance that China has consistently supplied Seychelles.

“This new ship will allow us to carry out more patrols to protect our economic zone from illegal activities, which will help defend the country’s interests,” he added.

He took this opportunity to express wishes of happiness and success to the Chinese diplomat in the new functions which will be his upon his departure from the Seychelles where he has already stayed for a little over four years.

Ambassador Guo said she was honored to sign this last protocol before her departure from Seychelles which she added “will contribute to maritime security”. She revealed, on this occasion, that in the coming days a technical team will arrive from China to undertake maintenance work on the ship PS Etoile .

“I remember visiting Aldabra on PS Etoile and it was a real pleasure to have had this experience,” she said of this.

It should be noted that the signing ceremony of this protocol took place in the presence of senior officers of the Seychelles Defense Forces and senior officials of the Department of Foreign Affairs.
