Air Seychelles has carried the Seychelles national football team from Maldives to homeland following their victory at the Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa Trophy competition held in Sri Lanka.

Saturday’s flight was commanded by captain Winsley Confiance and first officer Andre MacGaw, supported by cabin manager Cynthia Berlouis, cabin senior Kethra Quatre as well as flight attendants Angela Nicette and Charlotte Morel, who gave the champions a special welcome upon boarding as they fly the Seychelles colours to homeland.

The Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa Cup also known as the 2021 Four Nations Football Tournament held from November 9-19, 2021, gathered the participation of Bangladesh, Maldives, Seychelles and hosts Sri Lanka.

The Seychelles national football team won the prestigious Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa Trophy at the Race Course stadium on Friday after beating Sri Lanka on their turf in the final match of the tournament which was played in a round robin format in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Sandy Benoiton, Air Seychelles’ acting chief executive said: “Air Seychelles is extremely proud to have flown the national football team, the champions of the Mahinda Rajapaksa Trophy, back home today (Saturday).

“Having flown various sports teams across the globe this year, we are indeed pleased to have our very own Seychelles team on board our flight and on behalf of the entire Air Seychelles family, we extend our congratulations and very best to the Seychelles national football team for raising the islands’ flag high.”

The Seychelles national football team departed Seychelles on November 6, 2021 on board a special flight to Sri Lanka, operated by the airline’s A320neo aircraft of 168 seats.
