National carrier Air Seychelles yesterday celebrated its 45th anniversary, kicking off its special calendar of events with an exhibition at the Seychelles International Airport.
Attendees and exhibition viewers which included airport staff, as well as visitors passing through had the opportunity to, through a number of exhibits, view the numerous achievements and accomplishments over the years, from the evolution in the organisation’s leadership, operations, progression and accomplishments, inclusive of the numerous awards secured by the airline over the years.
Chief executive Sandy Benoiton in launching the one-day event dedicated the milestone anniversary to the airline’s staff, and the people behind its successes.
He further highlighted the significant investments Air Seychelles has made towards building and developing human capital over its existence.
“Our celebrations are dedicated, and celebrate our employees, since it is due to their courage, resilience and determination that we are celebrating this major achievement today,” he said.
“We need to also remember that we have trained a lot of personnel over the years, many of whom are serving within the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA), and other industries in Seychelles, namely, tourism, among others. Our human capital contributions towards the country and the economic value towards the development of tourism is an achievement which I believe all Seychellois should be proud of,” Mr Benoiton added.
In addition to the exhibition, Air Seychelles extended the anniversary cheer to customers, through a massive Black Friday sale on its Johannesburg and Mumbai route, available from its Mahé and Praslin sales office, as well as a special sales station set up at Premier Building in town, where clients could also make the purchase.
According to staff at the Premier Building, members of the public had shown great interest in the initiative, and they had, by mid-afternoon, made a few sales on both routes. The promotional sale will also take place today.
Over the coming days, Air Seychelles is to hold a long-service award to recognise employees who have been serving within the organisation for over 10 years.
Air Seychelles was established in 1978. It officially commenced long-haul service in 1983.
At present, the airline operates flights to Mauritius, South Africa, India and Israel.
